Will was involved with the build of Big Aron and has been with her ever since. During this time he has gained an intimate knowledge of the yacht and her systems. Growing up in the North of England, Will started sailing at the tender age of 6 and has not looked back since. After graduating with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, he went on to run a fleet of yachts in Greece. Looking for new experiences Will set off for the Caribbean to Captain some of the highest standard charter yachts and is now enjoying the command of this world cruising Expedition Yacht. His extensive charter experience includes over 100 weeks of charter as a Captain. When Will is not working and the wind is right you will find him on the ocean practicing tricks on his kiteboard.
First Officer, South African
Ferdi has now been on board Big Aron for over 3 years now and brings his wealth of experience gained from years in the industry ranging from luxury fast cruising sailing yachts to 50m plus motor yachts. Ferdi is in charge of our deck department and takes great pride in Big Aron’s exterior appearance and organisation. Personal and professional, he is a senior officer with an active role both on and off the deck. He prides himself on finding out about every detail of your destination so he can lead you and your friends to the most exotic dive spots or to a secluded lagoon. Unbeknown to the guests throughout your trip Ferdi quietly captures and collates the special moments of your trip so he is able to present you and your guests with a personalized DVD. Ferdi enjoys surfing, diving, and wakeboarding.
Doron has over 15 years experience in luxury yachts and with merchant fleets. He has proved himself an expert in organising and managing engineering departments, always operating with the highest level of professionalism. Doron brings a vast amount of experience and knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of Big Aron and her services. He is on call 24 hours a day to deal with all engineering issues. In his spare time Doron is an avid Jet Skier or can be found putting use his excellent carpentry skills.
Stuart is from Sydney, Australia. He has been around food and wine most of his life as his family owned a Restaurant in the Hunter Valley. He has over 20 years experience in Restaurants and Hotels all around the world including Sydney, Mexico, Italy, London and Las Vegas. From these travels he has developed an extensive repertoire of many food styles to complement his natural creativity. He is equally comfortable cooking Mediterranean or Asian flavours. Seeking new experiences in 2001 Stuart landed in Fort Lauderdale to begin his Yachting career. He is happy to interact with guests prior to arrival and cater for any special dietary needs, so as to ensure a gastronomic experience of a lifetime and that your stay is a memorable one.
Helen began her yachting career 6 years ago working on a variety of sail and motor vessel chartering in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, USA and South Pacific. She takes much pride in maintaining the interior of Big Aron and a great eye for detail means this is done to an exceptional standard. Her key priorities are guest comfort and service. Helen’s aim is that once guests’ have experienced a week on board they’ll wish they could stay forever. She has a welcoming smile, always approachable and nothing is ever too much trouble. When Helen is not working she can usually be found with her nose in a book, taking an active interest in current affairs, swimming or when the opportunity presents itself playing the piano.
2nd Officer, British
Jason is from the north of England, and decided to follow in his fellow Yorkshiremans footsteps (Captain Cook) and travel the seven seas. After working as a Butler on a cruise ship, Jason found his way into the yachting industry. He has been in yachting for 11 years, 7 of which as Captain on a 30 meter sailing yacht on which he circumnavigated the world. For the last 4 years he has been working as 1st Officer on 40 meter plus motor yachts; chartering extensively in the Mediterranean. Jason is the perfect addition to Big Aron, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the deck team.
Bosun, South African
Franz grew up in a small town called George on the South East Coast of South Africa. Living near to the beach nurtured his love for the water and he still enjoys participating in all types of water sports from Kite Surfing to wakeboarding. He is always happy and ready to assist guests in any watersport activity and may be able to teach them a few new tricks. Franz has spent the last 4 years working on some of the highest class superyachts in the World and has recently completed the next level of deck courses putting him well on his way to obtaining his OOW certificate. As Big Aron’s designated Security Officer, guest and crew safety is a priority for him.
2nd Engineer/Deckhand, British
Steve is relatively new to the yachting industry, having left the Royal Navy in April 2010 after 12 years of service as an electrical engineer, including 7 years on submarines. He enjoys working at sea and the day to day challenges that his role on board entails. During charters Steve is on hand to help guests with daily excursions. He is always keen to lend a hand in all aspects to ensure the best possible trip for the guests aboard. Steve is a massive Manchester United fan, and although keen on participating in most land and water sports, snowboarding is his true passion.
Stewardess, South African
Keeyan is originally from Cape Town. She has a strong background in hospitality gained from her experience working at the award winning restaurant La Colombe in South Africa. During this time her food and wine knowledge has excelled and she enjoys passing this on to the guests. She combines her skills with efficiency and personalizes her service to entice guests into having a superb experience whilst on board. Keeyan has a friendly and outgoing nature and along with her professionalism and attention to detail she makes every guest feel at home. In her spare time Keeyan enjoys playing all manner of sports.
Suzy comes from a small town in the Devonshire countryside. After completing one season in the French Alps cooking and entertaining guests she decided to transfer her skills to the yachting industry. Suzy takes great pride in her role in the interior, interacting with guests and ensuring that each guest receives the best possible care and attention. When not working on the interior Suzy enjoys cooking a wide variety of dishes for the crew. In her spare time Suzy keeps active training for triathlons, diving and travelling.
Andre is the longest standing crew member aboard Big Aron joining the boat during the build process. He has worked in and around boats for 17 years. He grew up in Angra dos Reis, just south of Rio, an area that is among the best cruising grounds in the world. Andre is your go to guy. His attention to detail ensures that Big Aron is always kept immaculate. He is always ready to organize any adventure you may decide to embark on! Safety is his priority so you can be sure you are in good hands whilst having fun aboard. Andre recently completed his yachtmaster practical and theory deck qualification.
Anna is from South Australia, but has spent the last six years following the sun around the world. From taking tourists out on snorkel and sailing trips in the Cayman Islands to Surf Life Saving, her love for the sun and being on the water led her to working in the yachting industry. On charter, Anna is the backbone of the interior team, assisting guests and maintaining the cabins. In her spare time Anna loves going to the beach, surf boat rowing, water skiing, running and all things active.
